How to do e-Verication of ITR?

Now E-verification of ITR is way easier, just by following a few steps you can e-verify your return. Earlier without a digital signature a taxpayer wasn’t able to do an e-verification and was required to send ITR-V to Income Tax Department in Bengaluru. But due to the significance of e-verification and to make it convenient for taxpayer the department has established several ways via which a taxpayer can e-verify the income tax return.

What is E-verification of ITR?

While filing an Income Tax Return, the 10-digit alphanumeric code sent to the registered mobile number of a taxpayer and he requires to submit it within a span of 30 minutes. This number is called as Electronic Verification Code (EVC) and verification of ITR via this code is known as e-verification of ITR.

This helps to determine the identity of the taxpayer. Such taxpayers include individual and HUF. The individuals are required to self-verify their returns while the Karta must verify the returns of the HUF.

How can I e-Verify my Income Tax Return (ITR)?

Now you can e-verify your return via multiple ways which is much easier and convenient as compared to sending ITR-V to CPC Bengaluru. Following are the ways via which you can e-verify your return.

E-verification procedure while filing ITR

1. Via Aadhaar OTP

To e-verify your return with Aadhaar OTP, your PAN card must be linked with Aadhaar card.

Follow the  process  e-verify your Income Tax Return;

Step 1: Login to the e - filing portal via the link given below;

www.icometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2: Click to e-file tab and from the drop down menu, select “Income Tax Return”

Step 3: Select the respective “Assessment Year”, “ITR Form Name”, “Submission Mode” and then click on “Continue”

Step 4: Select verification mode as “Aadhaar OTP”

Step 5: Submit your return or upload the XML

Step 6: Click on “Generate Aadhaar OTP”

Step 7: OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar (validity of OTP is 30 minutes

Step 8: Enter the OTP and click on “Submit”

And that’s it you are done with e-verification via Aadhaar OTP while filing ITR.

2. Via Net Banking

Step 1: Login to your Net Banking A/C

Step 2: Click the “e-Filing” link

Step 3: Click on “e-File” Tab and from drop down menu select “Income Tax Return”

Step 4: Select the “Assessment Year”, “ITR Form Name” & “Submission Mode” & click “Continue”

Step 5: Submit your Return/ Upload the XML

And that’s it you are done with ITR e-Verification using net banking mode

3. Via Bank Account (For Selected Banks Only)

Step 1: Login to e-Filing Portal; the link of the same is mentioned below;

Step 2: Select “Profile Settings” & pre-validate your bank account

Step 3: Click on “e-File” Tab and from drop down menu select “Income Tax Return”

Step 4: Select the “Assessment Year”, “ITR Form Name “Submission Mode” and click on “Continue” to proceed further

Step 5: Select Verification mode as “EVC using pre-validate bank account”

Step 6: EVC (Electronic Verification Code) will be sent to mobile number which is registered with the bank account and validity of this code is about 72 hours from the time of generation of OTP

Step 7: Submit your Return/ Upload the XML

Step 8: Enter the EVC on e-Filing Portal

And that’s it you are done with e-Verification of ITR using bank account.

4. Via Demat Account

Step 1: Login to e-Filing Portal, the link of the same is mentioned below

www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2: Select “Profile Settings” & pre-validate your demat account

Step 3: Click on “e-File” Tab and from drop down list select “Income Tax Return”

Step 4: Select the “Assessment Year”, “ITR Form Name”, “Submission Mode” and click “Continue” to process further

Step 5: Select Verification mode as “EVC using pre-validated demat account”

Step 6: EVC (Electronic Verification Code) will be sent to mobile number which is registered with the bank account and validity of this code is about 72 hours from the time of generation of OTP

Step 7: Submit your Return/ Upload the XML

Step 8: Enter the EVC as given

And that’s it you are done with e-Verification of ITR using demat account.

5. Via Bank ATM

Step 1: Swipe your ATM card at your Bank ATM

Step 2: Select “PIN fore-Filing”

Step 3: EVC (Electronic Verification Code) will be sent to mobile number which is registered with the bank account and validity of this code is about 72 hours from the time of generation of OTP

Step 4: Login to e-Filing Portal; the link of the same is mentioned below

Step 5: Click on “e-File” Tab and from drop down meu select “Income Tax Return”

Step 6: Select the “Assessment Year”, “ITR Form Name”, “Submission Mode” and click “Continue” to proceed further

Step 7: Select Verification mode as “Already generated EVC through Bank ATM”

Step 8: Submit your Return/ Upload the XML

Step 9: Enter the EVC on e-Filing Portal

Step 10: ITR e-Verification complete

E-verification procedure after filing ITR
